An unabashed celebration of losers
“I sometimes find winners vulgar,” says graphic artist and author Sarnath Banerjee, whose project ‘Gallery of Losers’ will be on display on billboards across the six Olympic boroughs in London during the Games. This unabashed celebration of losers, a counterpoint to the obsession with winners and winning that marks all sporting events, features characters such as a boxer who is forever thinking of dodging punches; a pole-vaulter who, just before a jump, fears he has chosen the wrong sport; a judoka who learnt the sport through correspondence; and a high jumper who only eats light food, has light thoughts and reads light literature because, he figures, high jump is all about levity
