With 30% of senior leadership positions held by women, Luminous is leading the way for gender diversity and inclusion in the industry. #WomenInEnergy, launched on International Women’s Day 2023, promotes diversity in the energy industry. It gained momentum by celebrating India’s first linewoman and highlighting women solar technicians redefining industry norms. With powerful storytelling, Luminous sparked dialogue on gender roles, and societal bias.
In 2024, the campaign deepened its impact through storytelling. One film explored unconscious gender bias through a child’s perspective, disrupted when a female line worker fixes a power outage. Another showed a mother on a rooftop, presumed to be doing chores, but revealed as a solar technician, breaking old prejudices.
Over the last two years, this awardwinning campaign has gained remarkable traction. The film not only amplified social media engagement but also drove essential conversations around women in STEM & energy sector. The impressive metrics—over 77.4 million impressions, 55.6 million reach, and 6.9 million views—demonstrate its global reach.

In 2025, Luminous celebrates Women’s Day with another powerful film on innovation and empowerment. When a young girl’s solar model is doubted by her teachers, the reality unfolds. To everybody’s surprise, her mentor is not her father, but her mother, a power leader in energy. This story shines a light on women driving the future of energy.
IMPACT BY SKILLING PROGRAMME
In addition to advocacy, Luminous is bringing about change on the ground through its Solar PV Installation Training Programme, a 400-hour course for women, marginalized communities, and unemployed youths across India. They are equipped with industry-relevant skills and upon course completion, they also receive a Skill Certificate from the NSDC.
Their CSR activities are based on three pillars—Education & Employability, Environment, and Electrification. Through another one of its flagship programs, LAMP (Luminous Advanced Mentoring Programme), the company has supported the educational journey of over 1,590 students, with 76% being girls, through career guidance, digital literacy, and mentorship, significantly preventing dropout rates among adolescent government school students.
Luminous has granted scholarships to financially disadvantaged students, mostly girls, to pursue STEM professions. Another pioneering program in Rajasthan empowers rural women as skilled solar engineers, facilitating them to become community leaders for digital and financial literacy. Their solar electrification and digital education programme empower low-income women-headed households with school-going girls, by providing access to modern technology and a better future.
LIGHTING THE WAY FORWARD
Ms. Preeti Bajaj, MD & CEO, Luminous Power Technologies shared her insights on the campaign, “We want to celebrate the women who continue to defy expectations, lead innovations, and inspire future generations to pursue careers in energy and STEM. Luminous is not just advocating for change, it is building one. Whilst investing in skills-building initiatives, the company is lighting the path towards a future where women in the energy sector becomes a norm.”
