The Last Hour (2021) was the most recent big-ticket TV series to be shot in Gangtok, which is also where director Anurag Basu shot parts of Barfi! (2012). Manjiri Matches

Manjiri Pupala was the star in the film within the film, Superboys of Malegaon (2024), and she will soon be seen in Shazia Iqbal’s Dhadak 2. But what has really excited the graduate from St Xavier’s College in Mumbai is the play she has written and will soon perform. ‘Manjiri Matching Centre’ is based on her relationship with her late father, who was an art director at Films Division and a great lover of theatre and cinema. Pupala says Superboys of Malegaon was an important film for her, reaffirming her passion for cinema. She says, “As an actor so many of your life choices are dependent on other people, sometimes you question whether it’s worth it.” But then that’s an artist’s life.
A Nice Indian Boy

So is Karan Soni a nice Indian boy? In a new movie by that name, co-star Jonathan Groff certainly thinks so. Soni plays the love interest of Groff, adopted by Indian parents in the film directed by Soni’s real-life partner Roshan Sethi. The Delhi-born Soni first caught everyone’s attention with the role of the taxi driver Dopinder in Deadpool (2016).
