Calling Japan

Rajinikanth’s Muthu won him a dedicated fan base when it was released in Japan in 1998. Jr NTR hopes to equal its success in Japan with the release of ‘Devara’. He recently took a break from the shooting of his Bollywood debut War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, to fly to Tokyo. The actor and his ‘Devara’ director Koratala Siva hope to build on the success of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which also starred Jr NTR.

The Irresistible Divya

When she is not attending events celebrating the success of All We Imagine as Light, most recently at the Asian Film Academy Awards in Hong Kong, actor Divya Prabha is shooting. Her next film, directed by Thamar KV, releases in April. She has just done a film with Don Palathara who directed her in Family (2023) and she soon begins shooting with mindbending filmmaker Krishand RK.

The Rise of Himesh Patel

In the near future, prospective parents must pass an initial test in order to prove their suitability for parenthood. Himesh Patel, the British actor of Indian ancestry, plays one-half of such a couple, in a new movie called The Assessment. An alumnus of the BBC soap opera EastEnders, Patel has been rising steadily through film and TV in an industry slightly kinder to actors of colour. The Assessment is set to make waves. Next up for him? Reuniting with Christopher Nolan—he was in the 2020 film Tenet—on ‘The Odyssey’.
