Dairy owners showed off their cows’ prowess in producing milk at the Bangalore’s annual cow milking competition.
They stood proudly on their four hooves with a velvety shine on their hides as their owners milked them, literally. It is Bangalore’s annual cow milking competition where dairy owners in the city and the surrounding countryside show off their cows’ prowess in producing milk. Hosted by the veterinary hospital in the Cantonment area, the cows, mostly offspring crossed with Holstein and Jersey breeds, vie with each other to show what they’ve got. To the uninitiated, Holsteins are the ones with the distinct black and white patched hide while the Jersey variety are mostly with a completely brown hide.
The winner was owned by Pradeep Gowda from Bangalore who milked 38.68 litres, a count that included milking sessions in the morning and evening. More than 15 cows came very close to the winning margin and lost out perhaps by a few milching drops.
