But this characteristic is now being used to aid law enforcement, as evidence in court, or to diagnose an illness. Agencies, including the FBI, are considering the installation of odour print-sniffing devices at airports and train stations and other high-traffic areas. The US Department of Homeland Security is putting out bids for a study to determine whether odour signatures can indicate deception or previous contact.
