The SRS-X99 boasts of a truly immersive sound experience, and it manages to do this with seven speakers—two magnetic fluid mid- range drivers, two super tweeters , two front facing tweeters and a subwoofer that has dual passive radiators around it—inside the unit. All this is run by Sony’s S-Master HX Digital amplification circuitry to ensure precision sound, from the lowest bass to the highest harmonics, in pure high-resolution audio.
The 154 Watts audio that the unit delivers is great for a bedroom or living room. You can get more of these units and set them up for a multi-room system.
Its in-built Google Cast means you can fire up your favourite app on your smartphone—whether this is iHeart Radio, RDIO, Pandora or Google Play—and to get the music up and running, just press the cast button and sound begins to emerge from your speaker units.
The SRS-X99 also supports playback for a wide variety of high resolution music files, including WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD, and also supports MP3. You can connect a pen drive with your speaker unit via its USB port, or even access these files over WiFi from your home media server.
Sony uses ClearAudio+ technology that can be accessed via its SongPal, allowing you to render an incredibly vibrant and powerful sound. The SRS-X99 also has DSEE-HX, which revitalises and extends the audio frequency response to near high resolution, improving the sound of low resolution files.
Sony has also incorporated its exclusive LDAC technology. With three times the data transmitted, LDAC provides an enhanced wireless listening experience for all your music. This means high-quality Bluetooth streaming from compatible devices, thus offering you a neat variety of connectivity options.
This compact and elegant wireless speaker is an option that may prove worthy for your living space.
