Just what all of us have been waiting for. It’s hard to think how something so simple can be so capable.
Finally the most awaited gadget of the year is here, and no it is not called the iSlate or the iPhone4G, it’s just called the iPad. Its 9.7-inch display features IPS technology to deliver clear images with an ultra-wide 178º viewing angle. The capacitive multi-touch display is accurate and responsive just like the iPhone and iPod. All this in a package that weighs about 700 gm and is just 0.5 inch thick, making it lighter and thinner than any laptop or even netbook. It will run all iPod/iPhone applications, and if you have bought applications for your iPod or iPhone, the same can be used on the iPad—you don’t have to buy them again. Powered by A4, Apple’s next-generation system-on-a-chip, it has a battery life of up to 10 hours.
In the US two variants are being launched—one with Wi-Fi only and another with Wi-Fi and 3G. We are yet to see which one will come to India. So, if you are thinking of booking it, wait and see how things shape up.
Like the iPod and iPhone, the iPad too is a single application device, which from my point of view is great. It will be available in India from March 2010.
