Keerthy’s Crackling New Avatar

Keerthy Suresh has never chased glamour, but now it looks like it is glued to her for good. The National Award-winning actor is trying hard to diversify with Baby John last year. But ‘Akka’, a new series she is shooting for YRF Entertainment and Netflix, looks set to give her that earthy swag she displayed with such aplomb in Mahanati (2018), which won her the National Award.

A fairly new actor does not always get to be in a movie opposite to a legend but Malavika Mohanan manages that with ‘Hridayapoorvam’, star­ring Mohanlal. Currently shooting in Kochi, Malavika has been sharing glimpses from the set.

So all Indians are wise, mocks a character in The White Lotus, who is asked to seek therapy with Amrita, the local healer in the Koh Samui hotel, where the third season of the popular series is based. But the Sri Lankan-British actor Shalini Peiris, who plays Amrita, looks every bit the wise woman as she tells a key character that he can escape the karmic cycle, and that she has hope for him. Peiris, who works in London, is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies, and a post graduate in acting from Arts Educational Schools London.
