A blowjob can lead to cancer. Don’t believe us? Well, we’re armed with scientific proof. A study by Johns Hopkins University in the US has shown that the HPV virus, contracted during oral sex, can cause throat cancer. And this virus makes you more vulnerable to cancer than cigarettes or alcohol. Worse still, experts say the HPV virus can also be passed on through kissing, though oral sex is the main mode of transmission.
The more the number of partners, the greater is the risk of getting cancer. This study of 300 people in the US also found that those with more than six partners were nine times at greater risk of getting cancer. More worrying, HPV infections often go undetected. The virus is the cause of about 70 per cent of cervical cancers.
Well, well, looks like that much-harassed cigarette isn’t the only cancer culprit around. Wonder what Anbumani Ramadoss would have banned if he were still heading the Union health ministry.
