Do you switch off lights and fans when leaving an empty room, drink tea in an earthen cup, stick to a vegetarian diet or take public transport to work? If the answer is no, worry not. The average Indian has still been ranked the best in the world on ‘environmentally sustainable behaviour’, says a survey by National Geographic Society and Globescan. No surprise, considering the Indian Joe-Schmoe still lives frugally in rural India and that he’s still way behind when it comes to a consumption-driven lifestyle. But is he really recycling trash or keeping the neighbourhood clean? Or saying ‘no’ to plastic bags? The answer is blowing in the wind.
