FOUNDING SSVM: A VISION REALISED

Dr Mohan’s extraordinary narrative began in the quaint town of Trichy, where her passion for learning and deep-rooted interest in community service illuminated her path toward greatness. Growing up, she witnessed the transformative power of education to break barriers, uplift communities, and create a brighter future. Her conviction became the driving force behind her academic pursuits, leading her to earn degrees in education and leadership, instilling the firm belief that education could catalyse positive change. Dr Manimekalai Mohan, after completing her post-graduation in Psychology and Rehabilitation Science from Holy Cross College, Trichy, moved to Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, following her marriage. Fuelled by a fervent passion for knowledge dissemination and serving the underprivileged, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey as an educator, encouraged by her neighbours. With the support of her husband, Mr Mohandoss, she founded SSVM, an institution dedicated to providing high-quality education to rural children. Driven by her commitment to impart knowledge and deep empathy for the rural community, she envisioned SSVM as a nurturing environment, aiming to cultivate a vibrant generation of young leaders alongside like-minded women.

The journey of SSVM began in 1998 as a play school on a rented campus with 25 children and has since evolved into fifteen renowned schools in Coimbatore and Mettupalayam. At the helm of this extraordinary journey is Dr Manimekalai Mohan, the Founder and Managing Trustee of SSVM Institutions, Mettupalayam & Coimbatore; Founder of SSVM Kids Casa Chain of Schools, Mettupalayam & Coimbatore and the Co-Founder of Ruh Continuum School, Coimbatore whose unstinting dedication and commitment have propelled the institution to unprecedented heights. She is also the Member of the General Council, NCERT (An Autonomous Body Under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India). With over 26 years of experience, Dr Mohan stands as a dynamic force in the realm of education, entrepreneurship and leadership. Her professional journey epitomises resilience, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Twenty Six years ago, Dr Mohan displayed remarkable courage by founding SSVM Institutions, a network of schools with a mission to provide more than mere bookish education.
