Ever since the state of Telangana as the 29th State of Country was formed, the Government of Telangana is vigorously promoting different destinations catering to the needs of the visiting tourists. Our initial strategy is to create a separate identity and build a brand of Telangana Tourism and take the new logo to the public.
Tourism is now one of the world’s largest industries and one of its fastest growing economic sectors. For many countries tourism is seen as a main instrument for regional development, as it stimulates new economic activities.
Tourism may have a positive economic impact on the balance of payments, employment, gross income and production, but it may also have negative effects, particularly on the environment. Unplanned and uncontrolled tourism growth can result in such a deterioration of the environment that tourist growth can be compromised. The environment, being the major source of tourist product, should therefore be protected in order to have further growth of tourism and economic development in the future.
This is especially true with regard to tourism based on the natural environment as well as on historical-cultural heritage. Sustainable tourism has three interconnected aspects: environmental, socio-cultural, and economic. Sustainability implies permanence, so sustainable tourism includes optimum use of resources, including biological diversity; minimization of ecological, cultural and social impacts; and maximization of benefits for conservation and local communities. It also refers to the management structures that are needed to achieve this.
Telangana is not only Hyderabad but, also offers the heritage site of the Kakatiya Fort, Rammappa Temple and the Thousand pillar temple at Warangal; for the Spiritually inclined, Lord Sri Ram Temple at Bhadrachalam (Khammam District), Jogulamba Temple (one of the 18 Shakti peetam) Mahabubnagar District, Kolunpaka Jain temple (Nalgonda District), Mecca Masjid (Hyderabad) and the Medak Church (Medak District).
Heritage of Hyderabad and Warangal will be our focus area apart from the ancient temples at Yadrigutta, Vemulawada, Bhadrachalam, etc. In addition, Hyderabad has already positioned itself as the most preferred Convention Destination in the country with its world class convention centres and facilities such as HICC, HITEX, N Convention, etc., and Medical Tourism destination with international standards medical facilities available. Government has already setup a board ie., HCVB (Hyderabad Convention Visitors Bureau) with an objective of inviting large conventions to Hyderabad.
The Culture of Telangana is vibrant and unique. The Government is promoting Bonalu festival and Bathukamma festival in a big way. The Cuisine of Hyderabad is world famous, however we intend to also promote the rural Telangana cuisine which is equally a culinary delight. All the districts of Telangana have its own Tourist destinations and each of them will be promoted actively
Our vision is to consolidate the position of Hyderabad as a global tourist destination and to attract the tourists to lesser known destinations also. Telangana is emerging as an Investment destination due to its proactive investor friendly policies.
