Sony is changing the way we look at a TV set with its W800C series. This 55-inch set puts out an amazing picture quality at full high definition, connects your smartphone wirelessly, and even tells you when you have someone calling— all this thanks to its Android 5.0 (lollipop) based operating software.
The TV comes in a beautiful package with a borderless design and a minimalist approach to things. Featuring a slim screen, powerful bass and great picture quality, this TV is a sheer pleasure to the eyes (and a dream come true for a geek).
With Android at its heart, the 55W800C is a smart TV, smarter than quite a few others, with standard services such as YouTube built in. It also has access to Google Play to play your favourite movies and TV, as well as Google Play Music to play music. There is also a voice search function that lets you control some functions of your TV by simply speaking to it.
This TV also comes with built-in GoogleCast so you can cast screens from your laptop, Android phone or even iPhone—whether it’s images that you took on your last holiday or your office presentation.
Sony also lets you catch up on all Sony Entertainment Television serials, if you are a fan. This can be done by downloading the app Notify Bravia on your Android phone. The app also puts out call alerts and message notifications on the screen—so if you put your phone on silent while enjoying the latest blockbuster, the screen will pop the alert to let you know someone is calling.
The remote handset comes with a touch pad, which makes navigation easy. Connectivity options include 4 HMDI inputs, 2 USB media ports, an Ethernet port, integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and DLNA.
The design, image reproduction and Android implementation make this TV set great fun to use. Priced at just over Rs 1.5 lakh, this is really a worthy choice if you want a slim and thin TV that looks good sitting in your living room and does a whole lot more than a regular TV.
