Banking on choosing winning candidates, the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to replace around 20 sitting MLAs apart from choosing new faces on seats where its nominees lost in the previous assembly polls in Karnataka.
Sources said ticket distribution would show that MLAs who had crossed over from Congress and Janata Dal (S) would also have been given tickets this time around based on the criteria drawn up by the party.
BJP leaders feel the resentment of some MLAs or hopefuls who have not been accommodated will not dent the party prospects as there is an upside to replacing persons who are not seen to be popular with voters or the party cadre.
There is a message of change that the party’s candidate selection hopes to reflect under chief minister B S Bommai. The strategies being devised for the elections are geared to cut of the driftwood and provide a new impetus to BJP’s bid to return to office with a clear majority.
