Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Olympic Collection

Here is the latest Seamaster, a watch that was first launched during the 1948 London Olympics

The very first Omega Seamaster was launched in 1948, the last time London hosted the Olympic Games. To commemorate the 2012 games, Omega is launching the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial London 2012. It retains the distinctive elements of the 64-year-old classic.

The London Olympic collection includes the Aqua Terra watch and chronograph. Both of them have characteristic blue dials. What makes them distinctive is the London 2012 Olympics emblem that is stamped on the caseback.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph comes with a 44 mm dial and is available in two versions. One version features a bicolour polished and brushed case crafted from 18 carat red gold and stainless steel—it has a dark blue leather strap. The other edition is in stainless steel and has a matching bracelet.

The chronograph has a blue PVD-coated dial, and features the characteristic vertically striped teak-pattern design that has come to define the Aqua Terra collection. The chronograph’s small seconds counter is at 9 o’clock, and its date window at the 4:30 position. Its 30-minute recorder is at 3 o’clock and the 12 hour recorder is at 6 o’clock. The central hour, minute and chronograph seconds hands are 18 carat gold and are treated with Super-LumiNova to make them readable in all lighting conditions. The chronograph is water resistant to a depth of 150 metres.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial is a 34 mm watch, and is available in 18 carat gold and stainless steel, just like the chronographs. Its caseback too is stamped with the London Olympics logo. This watch is also powered by a mechanical movement though it is 10 mm smaller than the chronograph, and its date window is at 3 o’clock instead of the 4.30 position. This warranty period is of four years.
