His role is hardly meaty, though one could argue it is pivotal.
We were told via numerous media outlets that Irrfan Khan has a ‘meaty’ and ‘pivotal’ role in The Amazing Spider-Man. It was even reported that he plays the second villain in the film. As it turns out, the role is hardly meaty, though one could argue it is pivotal. He does make the villain experiment a serum on himself and set the film rolling. The last we see of Khan is not even half way into the film, where he is left dangling from a bridge. What happens to him next is unexplained. Obviously, Twitter is agog with jokes; and comparisons with Anil Kapoor’s blink-and-miss role in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol are aplenty. Here are a few examples—‘Loved Irrfan Khan’s role as Anil Kapoor in Spiderman’, ‘Anil Kapoor & Irrfan Khan get into a fistfight in Mumbai bar over who’s the bigger Hollywood star’. Next, Irrfan is to star in Ang Lee’s adaptation of Yan Martell’s Life of Pi. Hope he isn’t left dangling there.
