Mount Everest might acquire an Indian accent in 2011. A record number of Indians, as many as eight (for the highest point on earth, it’s definitely a crowd), are attempting the summit this year. The climbers come from places as unlikely as Jharkhand, Haryana and Karnataka. There’s a computer programmer from New Delhi who is currently based in Britain. The climbers to watch out for are Prem Lata Agarwal from Jharkhand who has ascended Mt Kilimanjaro. And of course, Apa Sherpa, the Nepali mountaineer set to better his own world record with his 21st attempt on Everest.
