When a community has no fixed address, is spread across the globe, and its language is threatened by modernity, what’s it to do? The answer, it turns out, is to start an internet radio station. SindhiDB.com, a website that focuses on all things Sindhi, launched a live radio station to further the Sindhi cause. It plays songs from albums you may never have heard of, such as, Arise, Sindhi, Arise! and productions by Jagdish Lalwani, a sound artist. The station also plays Sindhi jokes and broadcasts live interviews. A live counter on the website revealed four people were tuned in, which, depending on where you stand, is either a disaster or a miracle. Lack of access can’t be a reason for the small numbers: it’s available on the iPhone and Android platforms too.
