Would you buy a bar of soap for Rs 720? We are not even talking an uber-luxury foreign brand. This is an offering from the stables of the very indigenous Mysore Sandal Soap.
Would you buy a bar of soap for Rs 720? We are not even talking an uber-luxury foreign brand. This is an offering from the stables of the very indigenous Mysore Sandal Soap. Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited’s (KS&DL ) Mysore Sandal Millennium, a 150 gm bar of soap, comes at that premium. “Mysore Sandal Millennium is the most expensive soap made and sold in India,’’ says KS&DL chairman Shivananda Naik. Millennium is produced from vegetable oils mixed with conditioners, moisturisers, vitamin E, jojoba-mimosa and pure sandalwood oil. Naik says two years of research went into developing the soap. He hopes to reach potential buyers through five-star hotels, malls and premium stores, apart from exports.
