Ever since news of Jyoti Basu having pledged his body hit headlines, Gana Darpan, a Kolkata-based voluntary organisation that promotes donating bodies to medical science after death, has been inundated with calls. “People from all walks of life and age groups—even 18 and 21-year-olds—have come forward to pledge their bodies,” says Brojo Roy of Gana Darpan.
