For once, DNA has a strange occurrence to report.
For once, DNA has a strange occurrence to report. All employees of this newspaper have to attend a 3 pm meeting every day discussing what ‘good deed of the day’ each one of them has done. Owner Subhash Chandra instituted this rule in early March, a phase in which several of DNA’s journalists were shown the door. According to those working with the paper, this was probably done to boost the morale of those still employed. Earlier, this meeting would take place at 11 am. But the journalists on the desk, who mostly finish work late at night, complained and got it shifted to 3 pm. Since then, the meeting has been taking place without fail. “The HR head and his junior attend these meetings. The chief approvingly nods his head as journalists turn by turn recount how they helped a senior cross the road or some such. The HR junior takes down each of these stories and later mails it to everyone,” a DNA journalist reports. Most journalists avoid the meeting on the pretext of some work. If not, they do what they must: fabricate a story.
