Filmmaker Mira Nair and actor Irrfan Khan make a great team that always results in great cinema. The latest collaboration between the two after The Namesake is Kosher Vegetarian, a short film that sees Irrfan act alongside Hollywood actress Natalie Portman. His character, a sexually repressed and conservative Gujarati diamond merchant, goes through a dilemma in the film when his wife, played by Natalie, turns into a sanyasin and he has to worship her. The film releases on 16 October and forms part of the anthology New York, I Love You. Irrfan, despite being a formidable name in Hollywood, harbours no desire to move to LA and is content working in India, hailing it as the country where he first found fame and acceptance as an actor.
