Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH)
How is BIMTECH coping with Covid?
The global pandemic, has ensured that the world would never be the same again. We have started the blended classes for the students from September 1, 2021 with necessary arrangements for safety of students, faculty & staff. COVID-19 has forced us to shift suddenly towards Online teaching. The faculty has seamlessly shifted to appropriate technologies to intensify learning outcomes.
In March-April, 2020, we were left with no other option but to adopt and adapt to a sudden shift towards online teaching and learning from the traditional teaching in a physical classroom environment. Within a few weeks, we have trained our faculty, staff, and students to adjust to the requirements of the online learning mode. We could also grade our IT infrastructure within a short time to provide the best possible quality hardware and software to the faculty and students community. Crises created by the COVID-19 have been converted by our faculty and staff to make perfect online arrangements for session delivery, feedback, and assessment of students. Our Faculty is empowered to implement changes in the course syllabi, suggested literature, applied teaching methods, assessment criteria, and ways of communicating with students to enhance the teaching effectiveness. The faculty utilizes numerous innovative and effective teaching practices that have a positive impact on student learning.
What is the offering to look forward to, and will it be more tech-centric down the line, etc.?
With the aim to orient students, faculty, and staff to become value-conscious human beings ready to face ‘Industry 4.0’ and capable of producing value for all stakeholders, BIMTECH decided to create a new centre named as ‘Centre for Business 4.0’. This Centre would, interalia, study the developments in Industry 4.0 and recommend activities to be taken up at BIMTECH in this regard. These activities include the identification of and suggestion for inclusion of new courses in the syllabi of different programs and the areas of research that should be undertaken. Many courses in the BFSI, IT and Data Analytics verticals, will allow students an opportunity to gain deeper proficiency in various aspects of Business 4.0, and our courses are accordingly being aligned and updated.
Program also includes experiential courses on Leadership, Enterprise Lab and Personal Branding which are critical to be a successful manager.
The Program also offers a course on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It covers ethical issues related to various aspects of the business, enabling students to recognize and apply high ethical standards. The Program also offers a course on Entrepreneurship to activate an entrepreneurial mindset among students.
How well is your teaching faculties well equipped in imparting and enhancing skills of your students to get more knowledge about the industry?

However, in case of Business Vertical Specializations approx. 50% course will be covered by the industry experts.
The Centre for Corporate Relations (CCR) BIMTECH has adapted itself to the new normal of the post-pandemic world.
