PIONEERING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: OCEAN DEPTHS TO HEIGHTS IN SPACE
Sona College of Technology takes immense pride in its 36 advanced research centres that promote industry focused innovation inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam in 2009. Appreciated by the late president as a centre poised for great accomplishments, one of these advanced centres, “Sona Speed” develops flight models of brushless DC motors for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Vikram Sarabai Space Centre (VSSC). These motors, which also find applications in deep-sea submersibles, have played a pivotal role in space, exploration and oceanic research. Notable, Sona Speed’s Simplex Stepper Motors have contributed to the successful launches of Chandrayaan Missions including the latest Chandrayaan 3 Moon Mission, thus bringing into reality Dr. Kalam’s predictions.
INDUSTRY RELEVANCE AND STEERING INTO THE FUTURE
Sona College’s Commitment to experiential learning finds further expression in Sona Star Innovation, a consulting and training arm. It offers students the space to solve real-industry problems nurturing confidence of the upcoming generation of engineers. To date more than 200 students have completed projects offered by Sona Star Innovations. The college’s global perspective serves as a magnet, attracting talents from all corners of the country. Notably, over 250 students who learnt Japanese language at our college have secured prestigious positions in Japan clinching an impressive salary of Rs 37 lakh.
Sona College of Technology has pioneered a comprehensive approach to learning encapsulated in the Management and Technology (MAT) format. This innovative paradigm equips students with a holistic skill set marrying technological prowess with managerial acumen. The Collaboration with TIDCO for training in the 3DX 3D Experience Lab is driving innovation in the production of Electric Vehicles and other automotive technologies. The holistic approach, fuelled by partnerships with stalwarts like Mahindra, CISCO and IMB, endows students with cutting-edge design technology competencies. Students get a bundled skill sets in mechanical, design and foreign language making them truly a global talent attracting global employment.
