Roorkee College of Engineering

My journey of 41 years with IIT, Roorkee has been of great achievement and challenges. After completing M.SC. (with chancellor Gold medal), I opted for Ph.D. and then became a faculty in the Department of Mathematics instead of joining IAS, where I was selected in 1979. The Institute, which is completing 175 years of excellence this year, had a rich legacy in academics and culture which encroached in me with time, my long association in the Institute has provided lots of academics (with three International awards) and administrative experience eg. Member BOG, HOD Mathematics, Dean (Administration), Chairperson Institute Complaints Committee etc. These versatile and vivid experiences have made me quite rich in vision, thinking and implementation.

All good things come to an end. That was true also for my association with IIT, Roorkee. Believe me, academicians never retire.So, I joined Roorkee College of Engineering with more enthusiasm as Director General.What prompted me to join RCE? Hard working, transparency, intellectual environment, friendly rapport, wonderful infrastructure and unique vision and mission are the guiding curve of RCE. Faculty and students are the pillars of any Institute. Sincerity, Creativity and passion make here the faculty and students unique.

The management is very keen to update them with NPTEL courses and expert’s lectures. Excellent Industry academic programmes run frequently. Apart, Institute is continuously running Value added programs in consultation with the students to update them with state of art. Proactively training, webinars, workshops are held in the latest technologies viz AI, Machine Learning, IOT, Smart farming, Robotics, cyber security, electrical vehicle etc. RCE has a unique mentor mentee concept. Soft Skill training programs help students to have excellent placements. Subsequently this year has observed outstanding 96% placement in most of the MNCs with the highest package being Rs. 28L/annum. Sharpening their ability to analyze and resolve the real-life technical problems is the mission of RCE. Needless to say, that it is the Institution that inspire those who aspire for big goals. It is importing multidimensional development to the young budding engineers, entrepreneurs in pharmacy, agriculture and management, with innovation and professionalism.
