Vikas Sharma is a man with the Midas touch! Since the beginning of his career in real estate, he has been adept in taking projects and elevating them to glorious heights ensuring doubling and trebling the value of land and harnessing it to its full potential.

Beyond the risk-taking ability, entrepreneurship is also about the creation and extraction of economic value from a given situation. The real estate maverick, Vikas Sharma’s journey has been about that. After completing his education from the US and Canada, Vikas started his career as a banker. Coming from a highly organised sector, he decided to dabble in real estate – a business not for the faint hearted. “Making money through real estate requires one to be ready to face the pitfalls and the potential challenges. With over two decades of experience as a real estate entrepreneur, one of the initial projects landed to him by chance. Once he tasted success, he tried to build something new every time. The man may be known to have a Midas touch, but there is a lot of planning, strategy and hard work that goes into it. Talking of qualities a real estate developer should have he explains, “This industry make look glamourous and money yielding from the outside but has its own set of challenges. Your ability to think on the feet and solve problems is an integral part of the business. Every construction project goes through several unforeseen issues. Starting from land acquisition to workplace accidents, a real estate developer is responsible for every incident or problems that hamper the progress. In such cases, it becomes imperative to have excellent problem-solving skill. You also need to have great communication skills with both clients and workers. You must have observed that when the construction of any building starts, it is either an isolated location or extremely chaotic. Therefore, multi-tasking is of essence.”

Vikas’s favourite projects is one from his initial years of business in the UK, where he revamped a run-down property in South of Cardiff, across the Royal Mint. “It continues to be a popular hotel, though the ownership has changed. It was a heritage property and as a young professional it was a delight to dabble into something and reinstate the building to its former glory and more,” he says.

He has also had a stellar innings in India over the last decade. With Spectrum Mall in Noida, he was responsible for the overall operation and management of the group while planning the strategic direction and procedures consistent with established policies. Having tasted success in the region with a couple of projects, he has his focus on the centralized location of Noida i.e wave city centre, as the CMD of Billionaire Bucks India Pvt Ltd. He talks passionately of the project and explains how the upcoming Mall of India will be the only commercial land in 60kms stretch with only one competition from Gulshan Group. Again, he is deeply involved in sales, strategy, development and marketing of the project.

Vikas only deals in commercial projects and has tasted success with several projects in India and overseas. Efficiently planning, schedules, timely deliveries, spear heading marketing campaign, he multi tasks across various portfolios as the project CEO. With a professional approach, he lends integrity and pragmatism to everything he undertakes. He has won various industry awards including, Shaurya Achievers Award, Award for Entrepreneur of the Year (Real Estate Sector) recently in the International Quality Awards in association with World Quality Promotion Council. The award ceremony’s core purpose was to encourage Quality improvements in both manufacturing as well as service sectors in India.

“More than the monetary rewards, I feel exulted with the number of friends that I have been able to make in my career so far,” he says with humility and sincerity.
