The erudite Hindi actress bit from Katrina Kaif is not going to be an easy sell if the press conference of Rajneeti held last Saturday was any indication.
Rajneeti is being touted as the movie in which Katrina Kaif jumpstarts her career from doll to actress. It has been amply publicised that the actress who grew up in the UK, dubbed in her own voice in Hindi for the movie. But the erudite Hindi actress bit is not going to be an easy sell if the press conference of Rajneeti held last Saturday was any indication. To an innocuous question on how it felt playing a politician, Katrina began an equally insipid answer in English when came a voice from the back: “Hindi mein?” The actress fobbed it off, saying, “It is in Hindi, you are misunderstanding it in English.” Though that really didn’t make any sense in either Hindi or English, the crisis was averted. But only for the moment. Later, there was another ploy to get her to speak in Hindi by asking her to recite her favourite dialogue from the movie. She refused stoically despite some vehement prodding.
