The winning applicant of the world’s best job gets a new job, or extension.
The world’s best job was to have got over on 31 December. The 34-year-old Ben Southall, selected from 34,684 applicants by Tourism Queensland to care for the islands around Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, spent his time staying in five-star resorts, snorkelling, yachting, golfing, fishing, travelling in seaplanes and giving 200 media interviews. And got paid handsomely for it, too. Now, he’s got a new job, or extension. He is all set to tour the world to promote Queensland as a tourism destination.
