India’s premier travel show—TTF—came to Bihar for the first time this year
Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF), India’s oldest and largest travel show, held its first-ever Bihar edition in October. On the occasion, Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy CM, Bihar, said, “It’s a feeling of pride that Bihar is representing TTF for the first time. Bihar has a great scope of tourism. For its promotion and branding, we are planning to launch a Tourism Policy very soon because we want tourists to stay here for atleast 2-3 days when they come to Bihar.”
As the tour and travel industry of Bihar grows towards new heights, TTF came to the state at just the right time. TTF, Patna took place at the Samrat Ashoka Convention Centre, Gyan Bhawan on 7th and 8th October, 2023, delivering an exceptional showcase of Bihar’s vibrant travel sector. Many critical discussions were held over the course of the fair.
FOREIGN INVESTORS LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES IN BIHAR
Bihar is the fastest growing state in terms of GDP. Now it has become the first state in terms of infrastructure growth. Foreign investors are looking for investment opportunities in Bihar because of its dynamic tourism sector. The Deputy CM appreciated the efforts of the Tourism Department for implementing abstract ideas on concrete platforms and requested all political parties to come forward to make Bihar a great tourist destination.
BETTER ECO-SYSTEM AND TOURISM POLICY BEING PLANNED
TTF provided a B2B platform for the tourism sector of Bihar. The state is focussing on three sectors – Religious Tourism, Adventure Tourism and Spiritual Tourism. Nand Kishor, MD, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, said that tourism is the primary sector for developing Bihar. Day 2 of the TTF event offered an intriguing panel discussion titled ‘Potential of Spiritual Tourism: Meditation, Yoga and Wellness.’ “Our major focus is on attracting tourists towards spiritual tourism in Bihar. For this, six religious circuits are being developed,” said Abhay Singh, Secretary, Bihar Tourism, “Post-COVID people have moved towards spirituality. So now we have a bigger opportunity in the field of spiritual tourism.”
NEED TO PROMOTE HOLISTIC TECHNIQUES
Panellist Mohan Deshmukh, centre in-charge, Vipassana Centre, Patna initiated the idea of promotion and branding of Vipassana Centres located at different places in Bihar. “The biggest USP of Bihar Tourism is Lord Buddha. We need to promote holistic techniques of living a healthy life,” he said. Arvind Kumar from Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) highlighted the creative initiatives taken by Bihar Tourism Department like the building of a meditation park in the Mahabodhi Temple campus, a Vipassana Centre, Tourist Information Centre and Souvenir Shop. Cultural programmes are also being planned.
MANY DEVELOPMENTAL WORKS BEING DONE BY BIHAR TOURISM
TOURISMAt the end, Abhay Singh, Secretary, Bihar Tourism, informed about upcoming and ongoing developments which include replica construction of Kesaria Stupa, East Champaran; rejuvenation of Punora Dham, Sitamarhi & Sita Kund Temple, Gaya; and reconstruction of Brahma Kund, Gaya.The day culminated with the highly anticipated TTF Valedictory Sessions and Award Ceremony felicitated by the Secretary, Bihar Tourism who appreciated the teamwork of Bihar Tourism and marked TTF as a milestone for future events.
