Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM) (Thane) was founded in 1935 under the leadership of Dr. V. N. Bedekar, a medical practitioner. Dr. Vijay V. Bedekar, Chairman, VPM (Thane), fulfilled the dreams of his father, Dr. V.N. Bedekar, in the academic year 2005-06 by establishing the Dr. V.N. Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (DR VN BRIMS) and launching the Master of Management Studies (MMS) program of DR VN BRIMS affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Due to his determination and vision, the small sapling planted by his father, Dr. V. N. Bedekar, in 1973 has grown into a tall tree producing qualified management professionals yearly. Quality enhancement has been a continuous endeavour at DR VN BRIMS; thus, it is an ISO 9001:2015 certified institute. Education at DR VN BRIMS transcends above and beyond the classroom. It aims at the holistic development of students’ personalities, honing their skills and innate attributes. Above all, it emphasizes character, morality, and discipline and attempts to build socially responsible citizens for the nation.

QUALITY OF EDUCATION AT BRIMS: BRIMS develops academic programs, runs university programs, and conducts research in traditional business areas. We follow in setting appropriate measurable outcomes for objective assessment to differentiate our institute and improve and ensure the quality and relevance of education.

Our strategic plan is to establish BRIMS as a leading business school, preferred by students who want to shape their business management skills along with the functional skills necessary to lead in a world of rapid change and pressing challenges.

In order to meet the highest quality standards in education, BRIMS strategies to focus on the following vital facets viz. quality academic delivery, publication in SCOPUS Index Journals or other reputed journals, higher package for placements, attracting talented faculty, attracting talented students, culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

INNOVATION IN TEACHING PEDAGOGY: The teaching pedagogy at DR VN BRIMS offers a wide array of ‘creative and innovative’ approaches as part of the learning process. In addition to imparting knowledge, faculty members make an effort to enhance competencies by developing critical thinking and inspiring creativity among students. The aim is to make learning enriching, enthusing and energising. The Institute’s ecosystem for innovations is nurtured by forming the IIC council which conducts various innovation activities and is awarded a 3.5 star performance out of 4 rating by the HRD Ministry.

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: DR VN BRIMS has Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with Lincoln University College, Malaysia and Thaksin University, Thailand to ensure that a global market perspective is given to the students in line with the needs of the market.
