The COVID pandemic has taught us that change is always around the corner, and it is wise to expect the unexpected. Several changes have occurred in our curriculum and pedagogy during and after the pandemic. It has become evident that only the fittest will survive the dynamic world of management education and that fitness is reflected in how our students perform in rapidly changing jobs. To enable our students to face future challenges, we get them to learn new competencies like adaptability, collaboration, curiosity, resilience and a deep understanding of the digital world. Function skills are essential, but overarching life skills are critical to sustainable development and career growth. We care deeply for our students, and our primary interest is to prepare them for the future and make them independent thinkers.

In the past, there was a great emphasis on lectures, rote learning and memorizing facts. The student is entering a world where the requirements are broad knowledge across areas, an agile and curious mind, steadfastness and confidence to address a problem, offer meaningful, well-researched solutions, and eventually, show high caliber leadership and ethics. To reflect this, the full time MBA program, Executive MBA program, BBA and B.CoM programs at SCMS, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, have incorporated several courses on Ethics, Leadership, Design Thinking, and Story Telling, where an idea is communicated effectively and persuasively. The new paradigm is learning through projects, clubs and proctored certification programs, even as course content is calibrated to reflect changes in industry and society. The brilliant faculty at SCMS, both scholarly and practice, are in the business of crafting superior managers for industry and leaders for society. That is our ethos!
