Mooting holds an esteemed place at Lloyd, where students have garnered accolades and elevated the nation’s pride by outperforming international counterparts in moot courts over recent years.
From initial preparation to personality development, encompassing oration and communication skills, the Lloyd Law College Moot Court Society offers an enriching environment with accomplished mentors. Our expansive, modern library serves as an information hub, housing over 65,000 books alongside research databases like LexisNexis, HEINONLINE, Westlaw India, SSC Online, and JSTOR.
This year, we celebrate our students’ participation in prestigious international moot competitions, including the IBA VIAC Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition 2023, Nuremberg Moot Court Competition 2023, and the 21st John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition organized by ELSA & World Trade Organization.
IBA VIAC CONSENSUAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION COMPETITION 2023 (8-12 JULY 2023)
The Lloyd Institute of Mediation and Arbitration (LIMA), founded in 2021, enhances students’ mediation skills, with the recent passage of the Mediation Bill 2023 in the Rajya Sabha further bolstering our efforts. The Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition (CDRC) Vienna is renowned worldwide for mediation and negotiation moot contests. Lloyd’s mooting tradition boasts a distinguished history, exemplified by our students’ impressive feat in the IBA-VIAC Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition held in Vienna, Austria. Under the adept guidance of Ms. Iram Majid, Honorary Director of Lloyd Law College, Chairperson of LIMA, Director of APCAM & ITAM, the Lloyd team was the sole Indian quarter-finalist. They also had the privilege of meeting India’s Ambassador to Austria, Shri Jaideep Mazumdar.
NUREMBERG MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2023 (19-22 JULY 2023)
Participating in the Nuremberg Moot Court Competition 2023 in Germany, our exceptional team argued a fictional case before the International Criminal Court. Among the 32 teams chosen for oral rounds, representing the finest law schools globally, Lloyd Law College students stood in the historic Courtroom 600 of the Nuremberg Palace of Justice—a venue of the 1945-46 Major War Criminals Trial. This renowned moot offers unparalleled exposure for refining knowledge in international criminal law.
21ST JOHN H. JACKSON MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2023 (13-17 JULY 2023)
Hosted annually by ELSA, the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition focuses on WTO law, drawing students from across the globe to simulate WTO dispute settlement proceedings. Our outstanding students clinched several titles in this renowned moot held from June 13 to 17, 2023:
– Semi-finalists in the South-West Asia region
– Shared the Best Memorial-Respondent title with NUJS, Kolkata
– Second Best Memorial (Overall) in the South-West Asia Region
– Mr. Abhishk Tripathi (B.A.LL.B. 2018- 2024) awarded Fourth Best Speaker in the South-West Asia Region
