Dr. Neelam Mohan plans to being a change in tier 2 and 3 cities through a new initiative with Doct-Co for better healthcare in many Indian cities.

Taking creative, diligent action towards solving a social problem is what makes one a changemaker. Therefore, Dr Neelam Mohan, befits the title with her admirable journey in raising the bar of medicine in the country and globally for establishing living related liver transplants in pediatrics.
Dr Neelam comes from a simple family of Hyderabad. Her father sowed the seed in her life to become a doctor and improve healthcare of her nation. What she has achieved today, is a lot more in every way. Dr Neelam started her medical journey with a mission to bring change and put her country on the global map for healthcare. With a career spanning over 24 years, she has achieved all this and more. With over a dozen awards including ‘Dr BC Roy award’ by the President of India, global recognitions and more than 200 publications and 50 chapters in books, her efforts have been both meaningful and a great learning experience for the entire medical fraternity.
Dr Neelam is one of the few doctors who have successfully managed all the four pillars of the medical profession: clinician/ healer, a mentor, researcher, efficient leader/ administrator. She not only established the first department of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and liver transplant in India at Medanta –The Medicity, Gurugram but recently took over as chairperson of Pediatrics. She is managing the department along with a busy practice and is also training several young doctors to take the branch forward.
Despite this busy schedule, Dr Neelam takes out time for social work. She also received the COVID warrior award for Haryana State from Indian Academy of Pediatrics. On improving the condition of healthcare, she says, “the government should work on preventive diseases and early recognition of the diseases to ensure more efficient and optimum utilization of medical resources. There are many programmes such as the Ayushman Pradhanmatri Yojna, Ayush Mission that are proving to be game changers.” “Today, most illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, fatty liver are lifestyle related. Therefore, we need to encourage healthy eating habits. I can never over emphasize on importance of everyday exercise and mindful eating,” she explains further.
She further plans to being a change in tier 2 and 3 cities through a new initiative with Doct-Co for better healthcare in many Indian cities. Her journey has been so inspirational, one can only rise in honour and bask in the glory our changemaker has achieved, and shall continue to.
