Inspired by the noble cause of education and philanthropic zeal, a group of twenty-two like minded industrialists in Kolkata established in 1990, the Kalyan Bharti Trust (KBT), a public charitable foundation, to promote and provide education in the country and in the State of West Bengal, in particular. To achieve KBT’s objective, Heritage Group of Institutions started its operations in 2001 offering quality education in the area of K-12 focusing on CISCE, IGCSE and IBDP programmes. In the Higher Education, the Group offers undergraduate and post -graduate programmes in engineering, media, BBA & BCA, MBA, General Degree Programmes, Law and many more.
The Heritage School had set a landmark in the sphere of K-12 education in India. In addition to the mandatory academic focus, there is considerable emphasis on co-curricular activities and games & sports which bring out a range of talents in the children. The School had won several awards for being the #1 Day Boarding School in West Bengal. Students from The Heritage School have been obtaining excellent academic results. In 2023, Manya Gupta from the School had topped the country in ISC examinations. In 2021, Ranjika Basu Majumdar, was one the world toppers in IBDP programme whereas in 2017 & 2019 Gunjan Gaheer & Aditya Pugalia was the Country Topper in IGCSE Exam in Arts & Design and in Computer Science respectively.
Since inception, Heritage Institute of Technology had inducted the best faculty and has created one of the finest infrastructures available in West Bengal. Most of the eligible programmes offered by the Institute are accredited by National Board of Accreditation in the category of Tier-1 engineering colleges in India. The Institute had been granted autonomous status and is accredited by NAAC with A Grade. Research & Development had been the prime focus of the Institute since inception. During the last couple of years, the Institute had received Rs. 1 crore 21 Lakhs grant from various Government and Non-Government agencies for the purpose of Research & Development (R &D) activities.
Many prestigious R&D grants have been received by the members of faculty from esteemed organizations like IEEE, Institute for Engineers, DST Nano Mission, ISRO, SERB, ITRA, Media Lab Asia, MeitY, Indian Council of Medical Research etc. Faculty members and students of the Institute had published more than 200 research articles during the last few years in peer reviewed journals indexed by SCOPUS and Web of Science. The H-index of the Institute is 18 in Web of Science and 19 in SCOPUS. Some of the faculty members of the Institute have been ranked among the top 7% researchers across the globe in the famous Scientific Index Raking 2022. In the same, 2 of the faculty members of the Institute have been ranked among the top 100 scientists in Asia.
Students of the Institute have done remarkably well in various examinations conducted by the Institute and other external agencies. One of our students, Sayantika Ghosh from B.Tech-Biotechnology, Batch-2019 secured All India Rank #1 in GATE examinations in the same year. Among the 2022 graduates, 6 students have ranked within top 150 in GATE examinations. The best rank among them is achieved by Mr. Soumyajit Kundu of Chemical Engineering with All India Rank 3 and he is pursuing M.Tech. at IIT Bombay now. In CAT examinations, our students had been consistently performing well making a presence all over India. More than 6 students have secured more than 90 percentile in CAT 2021-22, the highest percentile of 99.76 is achieved by Mr. Rahan Singha Roy of Computer Science and Engineering, who is studying at IIM Calcutta now.
Since inception, Heritage Institute of Technology had maintained 90 percent record placements in Top notch companies. Overall placement percentage for the 2022-23 graduated batches is more than 80% and out of the same, more than 90% placements have happened in circuit branches. Around 140 companies made 1400 offers to the students of the Institute. There had been some amazing offers with the highest one being Rs. 1 crore 60 Lakhs per annum CTC.
In future the Group is planning to establish a University focusing on futuristic courses that can create a niche in the Education sector of India following the NEP 2020.
Share this on The alumni of various Institutions under the Group are well placed both in the Industry and Academia in India and abroad. Many of them are working at NASA, ISRO, DST and many more.
Some of them are also IAS, IPS and WBCS officers contributing towards nation-building.
In areas of research and academic collaborations, the Institute had signed MOU with New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, ISI Calcutta among the prominent ones. The Institute has IEEE Centre of Excellence and also students’ chapters with Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Indian Plumbing Association, IISOI and others.
