Recently footballer Ashley Cole and Cheryl Cole fought out a rather public battle for their Chihuahuas Buster and Coco during their separation. Cheryl, of course, later gave access rights to the Chelsea footballer. But in a hoard of other cases, the fights have gotten uglier with everything from kitty litter to dog cereal bowls being flung. Concerned over the growing number of custody battles over pets, lawyers in the West have now added another contract to sign before taking the plunge. They are now suggesting that couples sign a ‘pre-pup’, an animal equivalent of a pre-nuptial. The pre-pup seeks an easy and cheap way out for couples who spend thousands of quid in court fee, and hopes to set up custody arrangements. The charges for the pre-pup, of course, will be extra.
