Now it is also a medical fact—laughter is the best medicine. A five-year research by the University of Leeds’ School of Healthcare has shown that patients with leg ulcers are better rewarded by a hearty laugh than they are by ultrasound therapy. As it turns out, laughing stimulates the diaphragm which plays a crucial role in blood circulation. The British Medical Journal which published the research said, ‘Forget technology. The best prescription for patients with venous leg ulcers is a good quality nursing care and the occasional belly laugh.’ Time to start laughter clubs in hospitals, what say?
