QUICK TAKE | Seven Things to Know About Royal Enfield as the Himalayan 750 Breaks Cover

1. Why is Royal Enfield in the news?
The Himalayan 750 has been revealed ahead of fuller details expected at Milan’s EICMA motorcycle show. Autocar India reports an anticipated India launch at Motoverse in late November. It signals Royal Enfield’s push into larger adventure motorcycles; final specifications and pricing are still awaited.
2. How is the broader business selling?
Royal Enfield reported 1,33,442 motorcycle sales in October 2026, up 7% year-on-year. Domestic volumes rose 4% to 1,21,527. Across April–October, total sales reached 8,42,538, up 18%. These are company-reported sales volumes, rather than a measure of how many motorcycles were registered by customers.
3. What do the latest financial results show?
In its latest reported quarter, April–June 2026, parent Eicher Motors recorded revenue of ₹6,632 crore, up 32%, and profit of ₹1,463 crore, up 21%. Royal Enfield sold 3,32,940 motorcycles, up 27%. Eicher’s consolidated profit also includes its share from the Volvo-Eicher commercial-vehicle venture; it is not Royal Enfield’s standalone profit.

4. Is the international business accelerating?
October exports jumped 47% to 11,915 motorcycles. The longer view is more restrained: April–October exports totalled 78,990, up about 1%. Domestic sales grew 20% over the same period. October represents an encouraging overseas rebound, while India remains the principal source of volume growth.
5. Are bigger motorcycles already driving growth?
Models above 350cc sold 16,626 units in October, up 18%. But their April–October volumes fell 5% to 91,410. The up-to-350cc-and-EV category accounted for roughly 88% of October sales. The Himalayan 750 therefore enters a larger-bike business whose recent monthly improvement follows a weaker cumulative performance.
6. How is Royal Enfield expanding production?
Eicher’s board approved ₹1,225 crore for the first phase of a new Andhra Pradesh factory. It is intended to add annual capacity of 4.5 lakh motorcycles, with completion expected during FY30, subject to market conditions. The investment supports growth beyond its existing Tamil Nadu manufacturing base.
7. What else is changing beyond petrol motorcycles?
Royal Enfield has begun deliveries of its Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle. Its October update recorded retail expansion into Hyderabad and Pune after Bengaluru. The brand is pursuing several growth routes together: established smaller motorcycles, larger petrol models, international markets and a separately branded electric offering.
