Yuvraj Singh Returns to Delhi Capitals as Assistant and Batting Coach for IPL 2027

Yuvraj Singh is returning to Delhi Capitals, this time in the dugout as a coach. The franchise on Tuesday announced the former India all-rounder’s appointment as assistant and batting coach ahead of IPL 2027, marking his first formal coaching assignment.
The move brings the 44-year-old back to the franchise that signed him for ₹16 crore in 2015, then the highest price paid for a player in IPL history. Yuvraj played all 14 matches that season for the team, which was then called Delhi Daredevils.
His return also reunites him with former India captain Sourav Ganguly, whom he referred to as “Dada” while speaking about the appointment.
‘THIS TIME AS COACHES’
“I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes this a special opportunity for me,” Yuvraj said in a franchise statement.

“I’m also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I am truly passionate about, and I cannot wait to get started with this extremely talented squad.”
Yuvraj has mentored established and emerging Indian cricketers in recent years. The Delhi appointment takes that work into a formal IPL coaching role.
“I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting journey for me, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success,” he added.
DELHI BANKS ON YUVRAJ’S EXPERIENCE
Delhi Capitals chairman and co-owner Parth Jindal said Yuvraj’s experience and ability to connect with players would strengthen the squad.
“Yuvi is one of Indian cricket’s greatest match-winners and someone who has played a pivotal role in mentoring many of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket today,” Jindal said.
“His experience, winning mindset, and ability to connect with players will be invaluable to our squad.”
Co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi described Yuvraj’s competitive spirit and understanding of the game as valuable additions to the coaching staff.
“We are confident that his insights, winning mindset and ability to mentor players will make a meaningful difference to our players and our campaign,” Grandhi said.
FROM WORLD CUP WINNER TO IPL COACH
Yuvraj represented India in 304 ODIs, 40 Tests and 58 T20Is, playing central roles in the country’s victories at the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
Across 132 IPL appearances, he scored 2,750 runs and took 36 wickets.
He now returns to Delhi with a different responsibility: helping the franchise’s batters turn their talent into performances.
