CWG 2026: Harsh Singh Clinches Judo Gold as India Completes Golden Double in Glasgow

India's judokas turned Friday into a golden day in Glasgow.

Hours after Asmita Dey opened India's account in judo with a memorable triumph, Harsh Singh followed it up by capturing the men's 60kg gold medal, completing a remarkable double for the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Harsh defeated Australia's Joshua Katz by Waza-Ari (10-0) in a tightly contested final to hand India its second judo gold of the Games and fifth gold overall.

The final was anything but straightforward.

Katz attacked aggressively from the opening exchanges, forcing Harsh onto the defensive and searching for an early breakthrough. The Indian, however, stayed composed, absorbing the pressure while refusing to concede a scoring opportunity.

The defining moment arrived midway through the contest.

At the 3:19 mark, Harsh produced a perfectly timed throw before pinning the Australian to earn a decisive Waza-Ari, a move that proved enough to secure the Commonwealth title.

The victory crowned an outstanding campaign for the Indian judoka, who had earlier dominated his semifinal to book a place in the gold-medal bout.

Harsh's triumph capped a dream day for Indian judo after Asmita Dey's dramatic Golden Score victory in the women's 48kg final earlier in the day.

With the two gold medals, India's tally at the Commonwealth Games rose to 19 medals, including five gold, as the country's athletes continued their impressive run in Glasgow.
