As India prepares to host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, the government is launching a nationwide digital campaign to promote ethical, inclusive, and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), under the IndiaAI Mission, in collaboration with Intel India, will launch the nationwide initiative on February 16 and 17 to encourage citizens to pledge responsible AI use.

Titled “Most pledges received for an AI Responsibility campaign in 24 hours,” the initiative will attempt to secure a Guinness World Record for the highest number of pledges collected within a single day. The campaign seeks to mobilise people across the country to commit to ethical, inclusive and human-centric use of AI, reinforcing India’s commitment to building a trustworthy AI ecosystem.

Designed as an awareness-driven experience, the campaign includes scenario-based questions that prompt participants to think critically about responsible AI practices before submitting their pledge. After completing the process, participants will receive a digital honorary badge jointly issued by IndiaAI and Intel India, along with access to curated government-backed AI learning resources.

How Can Citizens Participate in the Digital Pledge Drive?

The campaign is structured to ensure ease of access for participants across regions, age groups and socio-economic backgrounds. It does not require microphone or camera permissions, and there are no qualifying marks, eligibility conditions or technical barriers.

Participants can join by visiting the official pledge portal and completing a simple registration process. This is followed by identity verification through a one-time password sent to their registered email address or phone number. After verification, participants engage with short, scenario-based awareness questions before submitting the final AI Responsibility Pledge.

By simplifying the participation process, organisers aim to ensure that individuals from both urban and rural areas can take part without facing technological constraints. The focus remains on encouraging reflection, awareness, and responsible digital behaviour rather than technical expertise.

Why This Campaign Matters Ahead of the India AI Impact Summit

The AI Responsibility Pledge campaign is a citizen-engagement initiative linked to India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16 to 20 in New Delhi. It intends to build public awareness and participation ahead of high-level policy discussions on artificial intelligence.

It encourages participation from students, teachers, parents, government officials, public sector employees, professionals, startup founders, and citizens from diverse backgrounds. With a strong emphasis on youth engagement, it aims to promote awareness around data privacy, accountability, transparency and combating misinformation.

The summit itself will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and bring together Heads of State, global leaders, policymakers, industry experts, researchers, startups, academics and civil society representatives. Discussions will be guided by the pillars of People, Planet, and Progress, with a focus on leveraging AI for inclusive and development-oriented outcomes.

By linking citizen participation to global-level deliberations, the campaign seeks to ensure that India’s AI growth is rooted in public trust, ethical standards, and democratic values.
