Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama is scheduled to travel from Dharamshala to New Delhi on June 5 to undergo medical treatment for his left knee.
The announcement was made through his official X account, which stated: "His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to depart Dharamsala tomorrow for Delhi, where he will undergo medical treatment on his left knee."
The update provides clarity on the spiritual leader’s immediate schedule and health-related plans after spending recent months in Dharamshala.
According to the announcement, the Dalai Lama is expected to travel to Ladakh after recovering from the medical procedure.
The statement said: "Following his recovery, he is to travel to Ladakh toward the end of June for an extended stay."
Ladakh has long been an important destination for the Dalai Lama, where he regularly interacts with Buddhist communities and followers from across the Himalayan region. The planned visit suggests that he intends to resume public engagements after completing treatment and recovery.
The health update comes just a day after the Dalai Lama formally received a Grammy Award during a special ceremony at his office in Dharamshala.
The award was presented by renowned sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his sons, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash.

Speaking to the media, Amjad Ali Khan said: "We have played sarod with my sons, Aman Ali Bangash, Ayan Ali Bangash. We are playing sarod with the voice of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. So we are here to offer this award, Grammy award, to the Holiness, the Dalai Lama."
Ayaan Ali Bangash described the recognition as a deeply meaningful moment, saying: "It's such an honour to be here and we are just so blessed. It's just a blessing for us. We are so grateful that His Holiness blessed this project and allowed us to be a part of it. We are so blessed. It's all because of His Holiness's blessings."
Earlier this year, the Dalai Lama won a Grammy in the audiobook category for the album Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The project competed against several other nominees, including works by Trevor Noah, Ketanji Brown Jackson and others.
The award recognised a recording that focuses on themes the Dalai Lama has championed for decades, including compassion, peace and shared human responsibility.
Responding to the award earlier this year, the Dalai Lama issued a message expressing gratitude and emphasising the broader purpose behind the recognition.
He said: "I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility. I don't see it as something personal, but as a recognition of our shared universal responsibility. I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings. I'm grateful that this Grammy recognition can help spread these messages more widely."
The Grammy was accepted on his behalf in February by Rufus Wainwright.
The announcement indicates that the Dalai Lama's immediate focus will be on recovering from treatment for his left knee. If his recovery proceeds as planned, he is expected to resume activities later this month with an extended stay in Ladakh, while continuing to promote messages of peace, compassion and global responsibility that were also highlighted through his Grammy-winning project.
