'You Created Magic Within the Group': Rohit Sharma's Emotional Tribute to Former India Fielding Coach T Dilip

India's dressing room is saying goodbye to one of its quiet architects.

As T Dilip signed off after five memorable years as India's fielding coach, former Test captain Rohit Sharma led the tributes with a heartfelt message, crediting him for transforming the team's fielding culture and strengthening the bond within the squad.

Sharing a photograph with Dilip on Instagram, Rohit wrote:

"You are a legend Dillip guru. You created magic within the group and a behind-the-scenes workhorse. Best wishes ahead."

Dilip's departure marks the end of a successful chapter that saw India win two ICC T20 World Cups (2024 and 2026), the ICC Champions Trophy (2025) and two Asia Cup titles, while also reaching the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship.

While his work largely unfolded away from the spotlight, Dilip became one of the most recognisable members of India's support staff after introducing the now-famous 'Best Fielder of the Match' medal ceremony during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The dressing-room ritual quickly became a fan favourite, celebrating fielding excellence and reinforcing the importance of athleticism, intensity and teamwork within the squad.

In an emotional farewell post, Dilip described his stint with Team India as one of the greatest honours of his career.

"Five years. It is difficult to find the right words for a journey that has meant so much," he wrote.

Calling the fielding medal ceremony one of his fondest memories, Dilip said watching players embrace the tradition and celebrate one another would remain with him forever.

He also thanked the BCCI, former head coaches Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir, and captains including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer for their trust and support.

As one chapter closes, another begins.

The BCCI has appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as India's new fielding coach ahead of the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. A former Assam and Railways cricketer, Ghosh previously worked with the India women's team, India A and the Assam senior side, and now takes charge of one of the most closely watched roles in Indian cricket's support staff.
