India retained the T20 World Cup and became the only team to repeat the feat, sealing the title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The victory also made India the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times.

Fiery half-centuries from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan powered India to a massive 255 for 5 in the final.

The bowlers then successfully defended the total of 256, with Axar Patel claiming three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah producing a masterclass spell of 4 for 15.

The reward marks a significant jump from the Rs 125 crore prize announced after India’s triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, making it Rs 6 crore higher this time.

The victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium also carried emotional weight for India, as it came at the same venue where the team had suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Australia national cricket team in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 Final.

Sanju Samson once again stood out with the bat, extending his remarkable run in the knockout stages by registering his third consecutive 80-plus score.

The opener’s performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award and played a key role in India’s triumphant campaign.

The announcement comes after another major reward by the board in women’s cricket, with the Indian women’s team receiving Rs 51 crore following their title-winning campaign in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.
