In a series of characteristic social media posts and remarks, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is now in effect, crediting what he called a “perfect hit” by American B-2 bombers and his personal diplomacy for brokering an unlikely peace between the two longstanding adversaries.
“They (Iran) violated, but Israel violated it too,” Trump said earlier in the day, referring to the unraveling of previous agreements. “As soon as we made the deal, Israel came out and dropped a load of bombs… We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.”
Despite the provocative tone, Trump claimed on social media that both nations reached out to him “almost simultaneously,” seeking peace. “I knew the time was NOW,” he posted in all caps, framing himself as the central figure behind the breakthrough. “The World, and the Middle East, are the real WINNERS!”
He warned Israel in stark terms not to sabotage the fragile truce. “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” he declared. The ceasefire, according to Trump, is already active: “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!”
In another post, the president offered spiritual overtones to what he called a “deal” that would usher in a new era for both nations. “They have so much to gain, and yet, so much to lose if they stray from the road of RIGHTEOUSNESS & TRUTH. The future for Israel & Iran is UNLIMITED, & filled with great PROMISE. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!”
Trump also confirmed that American stealth bombers played a key role in shaping the diplomatic outcome. “Iran will never be able to rebuild its nuclear facilities,” he said, adding, “That place is under rock. That place is demolished. The B-2 pilots did their job better than anybody could have imagined.”
Referring to the recent airstrike as a pivotal moment, he added, “In a certain and very ironic way, that perfect ‘hit,’ late in the evening, brought everyone together, and the deal was made!!!”
