India on Saturday hit six Pakistani airbases in a pre-dawn action in retaliation to the latter’s attacks across the Northern and Western border of India.
Army spokeswoman Colonel Sofiya Quershi said in a briefing on Saturday that “After the deliberate targeting of India’s military bases Indian armed forces responded in a targeted and planned manner and hit technical installations, radar sites and weapons depots at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chuniya by air launched precision weapons and fighter jets.”
She added that, “the radar site at Pasur and the aviation base at Sialkot were also targeted by precision ammunition.”
Col Quershi said that India responded after the entire stretch of the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) from Sirnagar in J&K to Naliya in Gujarat were targeted at more than 26 places by attempted air incursions.
“Indian armed forces managed to ward off a majority of these attempts. But Air Force stations at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj and Bathinda station saw some limited damage to equipment and personnel.”
At 1:40 AM today morning Pakistan used a high speed missile to target an airbase in Punjab.
That Pakistan’s actions and intentions are hostile was also noted by the forward deployment of its troops in an “aggressive manner.”
Pakistan has used the civilian aircraft flying out of Lahore as shields to abuse the international air routes so that it can hide its actions. “This has forced the Indian Air Force to undertake actions in an extremely careful manner,” she added.
At the same time, Col Quershi refuted claimed hits at India’s S-400 unit at Adampur and air bases at Suratgarh and Sirsa along with the Brahmos missile unit at Nagrota and the ammunition dumps at Dehderai and Chandigarh were false and part of Pakistan’s misinformation campaign on social media.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who concluded the briefing, said that, “We have also seen in some of the remarks that Pakistani army spokesman seems to take great joy at the fact that the Indian public should criticise the government of India with various issues. It may be a surprise to Pakistanis to see citizens criticising their own government, as that is a hallmark of open and functional democracy. Pakistan’s unfamiliarity with that should not be surprising.”
Overnight, India’s civilian population areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor sectors were subjected to heavy shelling by Pakistan. India responded in an effective and proportionate manner, the spokeswomen noted.
