How did Ravi Kishan describe BJP’s victory in West Bengal Assembly elections?

BJP MP Ravi Kishan termed the party’s performance a "historic" shift and said the state had liberated itself from a "world of fear."

Speaking to ANI, he credited the outcome to the strategy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kishan remarked that Bengal has "regained its identity" through the blessings of Maa Durga.

This is historic. The whole of Bengali society has shown faith in PM Modi and in Home Minister Amit Shah's strategy - his decision to go there and deploy forces. Every Bengali Hindu and Bengal Sanatani wanted to free themselves from that world of fear... Because of Maa Durga's power, Bengal has regained its identity... I congratulate all of India for this.

At the BJP office in Kolkata, workers celebrated by distributing jhalmuri as the party led on 191 seats, according to Election Commission trends at 2:30 pm.

A worker said, "PM always goes among the common man. He had 'jhalmuri,' and it is Didi who felt 'jhal' (spicy). She had even humiliated the 'jhalmuri wala' and said that an SPG personnel was made to sit there. Common people of the state have given her a befitting reply."

The Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, was headed for defeat, leading on 96 seats.

Speaking to reporters, BJP President Samik Bhattacharya said, "...TMC's current political system has ended, and the people's government is going to be formed."

Supporters also gathered outside the residence of Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata, raising slogans of 'Jai Shree Ram' as the BJP maintained a comfortable lead.

The elections saw a record voter turnout. West Bengal recorded the highest-ever participation since independence, with 91.66 per cent polling in Phase II and 93.19 per cent in Phase I, taking the combined turnout to 92.47 per cent.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election, the Trinamool Congress secured 213 out of 294 seats with around 48 per cent vote share, while the BJP won 77 seats with roughly 38 per cent votes. The Left-Congress alliance failed to win any seats.
