What happened in the Faridabad parking dispute?

The shooting took place on Friday night, November 6, on Dhanteras. According to Surajkund police, Dhankhar returned from the gym at around 8 pm when an argument broke out with his neighbour, identified as Mohan alias Monu Sharma, over a vehicle parked in his allotted space.

The dispute allegedly escalated, and Sharma opened fire with his licensed pistol. Police told ANI that the accused fired approximately 15-16 rounds, with eight to nine bullets hitting Dhankhar. He died at the scene.

Was there an earlier dispute between the two families?

Yes. Police told media that the families had been involved in repeated disagreements over parking and a pet dog. The neighbour's son allegedly allowed the dog to defecate in the parking area, prompting objections from Dhankhar's family.

An argument involving Dhankhar's son had reportedly taken place four to five days before the shooting. The latest confrontation appears to have followed this series of disagreements, although investigators are still establishing the full sequence of events.

Who is the accused and what action has Faridabad Police taken?

The accused has been identified as Mohan alias Monu Sharma, who lived in the same building. Early reports said he fled with his family after the shooting.

An FIR was registered at Surajkund police station on a complaint by Dhankhar's son, Shaurya. The case includes Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with murder, and provisions of the Arms Act. Police and Crime Branch teams, along with forensic experts, visited the scene and recovered empty cartridges.

There are conflicting reports about the accused's status. While early police updates described him as absconding, a PTI report published later on November 7 said the main accused had been arrested. An independently confirmed police update establishing his current custody status was not available in the reports reviewed.

What happens next in the investigation?

Investigators will examine the recovered cartridge cases, forensic evidence and accounts from witnesses to reconstruct the shooting. The post-mortem examination and the complaint filed by the victim's son are also part of the investigation.

The case has drawn attention because of the reported escalation of an everyday neighbourhood disagreement into a fatal shooting. However, the precise sequence of events, the role of each person named in the FIR and the circumstances surrounding the use of the licensed firearm will have to be established through the investigation and legal proceedings.
