The first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Maryada Purushottam Rama in 'Ramayana: The Introduction' has been unveiled after months of anticipation, offering audiences a sweeping look at the epic retelling.
The teaser, released on Thursday, introduces Ranbir’s Rama as a hero, protector and a legend.
The two-minute-38-second video, titled Rama, focuses on the journey and adventures of Lord Rama, while Ravi Dubey and Sai Pallavi appear briefly alongside glimpses of Ravana's kingdom.
The visuals stand out for their grand scale and impressive appeal.
The video opens with a title card that reads, “Whenever the world descends into chaos, he is the answer,” establishing Ram as the ultimate protector.

It goes on to depict key moments from Rama’s life, including his coronation, exile and eventual battle with Ravana.
The clip presents a fresh retelling of the epic, portraying Rama as a timeless symbol of duty, sacrifice and righteousness, whose choices are guided by the greater good.
The teaser drew an enthusiastic response online. One fan wrote, "Incredible! Gave me goosebumps. much-awaited." Another commented, "Out of the world , what a fab fab first look." A third user added, "This is iconic."
Reflecting on the role, Ranbir said, "I don't think I'm here to represent Rama. I'm here to learn from him.”
The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. Conceived as a two-part series, it is among the biggest projects in Indian cinema.
The first instalment is scheduled for release on Diwali this year, with the second part slated for Diwali 2027.
Inspired by the ancient epic Ramayana, the film follows the story of Rama, believed to be an avatar of Lord Vishnu, tracing his journey as the prince of Ayodhya, his exile and his battle with Ravana.
The script has been written by Namit Malhotra in collaboration with Shridhar Raghavan.
The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The music has been composed by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, with Pankaj Kumar serving as cinematographer.
