The household sees small upgrades, including a renewed living space and the addition of modern conveniences, reflecting gradual shifts in lifestyle. At the same time, the narrative continues to centre on everyday interactions and family dynamics.

Returning cast members include Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Harsh Mayar and Sunita Rajwar, while Anant Joshi joins the show as Annu.

Season five explores new developments in the lives of the characters: Annu faces ongoing pressure to establish himself while grappling with self-doubt, Aman returns with a more reserved outlook suggesting personal changes yet to be explored, and Shanti's character takes on a slightly different dimension as she experiences visibility through an online identity, reflecting the increasing role of digital platforms in everyday life.

The makers summed up the season's theme in its logline: "Amid all the upgrades and upheavals, Gullak continues to ask the most relatable question of all - can you ever really outgrow where you come from?"

How Does Gullak Season 5 Reflect the Changing Realities of Middle-Class India?

Lead actress Geetanjali Kulkarni, who plays Shanti Mishra, noted that while her character remains the emotional anchor of the family, viewers can expect something fresh.

"This season audiences will see a slightly different side to her – one that's adapting to a rapidly changing world in her own unique way. What I love most about 'Gullak' is how honestly it captures everyday life, and I think that's why people see themselves in these characters year after year," she said.
